8 Reasons to LOVE Your Morning Workouts

August 20, 2016

The fact that I am naturally wired as a "morning person," may contribute to the fact that I am all for jumping out of bed and hitting the treadmill or the weight room. But, just because you don't consider yourself to be an early bird, doesn't mean that YOU can't love working out BEFORE you start your day! Here are 8 reasons I love to get my workout in during the AM hours.

1. It actually wakes you up

I may feel still a bit out of it when I start my workout, but by the end I am left feeling energized and ready to start my day.

2. You're more productive

Think how rewarding it is to get a good sweat session worked into your busy morning?! You're already off to a good start! I find that I am the most productive for the rest of the day when I work out in the morning.

3. It boosts your mood

Exercise releases endorphins. Endorphins boost your mood. It's a foolproof way to make sure you wake up "on the right side of the bed."

4. You get to eat a HUGE breakfast afterwards!

Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day. Personally, I prefer to eat the majority of my calories at breakfast. There is nothing better than devouring a stack of protein pancakes or a big bowl of oatmeal after a long morning workout!

5. You may actually burn MORE fat

According to a recent study done by Northumbria University, your body may actually burn up to 20% more fat by exercising in the morning before consuming your first meal.

6. You always have time

Let's face it, our lives get busy and our afternoon workout we had planned may not always end up happening. You can ALWAYS wake up just a little earlier to make sure you have time to squeeze in your workout before your crazy day begins.

7. Fresh face, fresh hair, fresh mind

After a good, hard, SWEATY, workout - you take a shower and get ready for your day. When you work out in the afternoon, you may be less likely to want to break a sweat if you have plans following your gym time.

8. It's PEACEFUL!

There is something just SO relaxing and refreshing about working out in the morning. Mornings are a time when I like to gather my thoughts and prepare myself for my day - and what better way to free your mind than by focusing on nothing but your fitness goals and making yourself better than you were the day before.
