Looking for healthy substitutes to use in your baked goods? Look no further - BetterBody Foods has all of the essential ingredients to create baked goods that are lighter, nutrient packed, and contribute to your health, happiness, and overall wellness. You may have read about BetterBody Foods in several of my previous recipes posted on the blog, but after receiving a wonderful assortment of treats from BetterBody Foods, I wanted to do a further review of some of the products I received.
My Favorite Product
PBFit - Powdered Peanut Butter
I first came across BetterBody Foods when I found their PBFit in the baking section at Walmart. I was INSTANTLY hooked! PBFit is by far my favorite product by BetterBody Foods, because it is so versatile. I can simply mix it in my smoothies, eat it plain, or even use it as one of the main ingredients in my Protein Packed New York Style Cheesecake crust.
PBFit is a staple in my everyday diet. Check out the nutrition facts for the chocolate flavor (my personal favorite) from www.betterbodyfoods.com:
With only 50 calories, 3 grams of fiber, and 4 grams of protein per serving, PBFit is a great way for me to satisfy my craving for a creamy, chocolatey treat. (TIP: Try mixing 2 tablespoons PBFit, 2 tablespoons unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and 1 teaspoon stevia together and putting it in the freezer for one hour for a frozen dessert!)
Great Smoothie Add-Ins
100% Organic Cacao Superfood Powder
Not only is cacao powder LOADED with antioxidants, fiber, and protein, but when paired with stevia, it makes a great substitute for chocolate in your baked goods. (Check out my 60 Calorie Glazed Chocolate Donuts recipe - using cacao powder!) Cacao powder has also been known to reduce the risk of heart disease and decrease inflammation. I LOVE mixing this cacao powder into my protein shakes in the morning. Try combining 1 tablespoon cacao powder, 2 teaspoons stevia, 1 tablespoon PBFit, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 cup of almond milk, and 6 ice cubes in a blender for a delicious, creamy, chocolate smoothie. Check out the nutrition facts for the 100% Organic Cacao Superfood Powder from www.betterbodyfoods.com:
LIVFit Plant Protein
Also a great smoothie add-in, the LIVFit Plant Protein is 100% VEGAN! This plant protein is 80 calories per serving and only contains THREE ingredients: pea protein, quinoa protein, and organic agave inulin. This powder is flavor free, so it can be added to any smoothie without affecting the taste.
LIVFit Superfood Blend
Get that extra boost of nutrition in your morning smoothie with the LIVFit Superfood Blend! This powder is also flavorless, so it works well in any smoothie, oatmeal, or baked good. Get this: one serving contains the nutritional equivalent of 4 cups of broccoli, 3 1/2 carrots, 2 cups of blueberries, and 1 1/2 tomatoes.
Organic Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are great to add in to your smoothies, because they actually have a thickening effect. Chia seeds are packed with protein and fiber, (1 tablespoon contains 4 GRAMS of fiber!) making you feel full for a longer period of time, and they are a great source of healthy omega 3 fatty acids. You can even sprinkle chia seeds on your oatmeal for a little extra crunch and boost of energy!
BetterBody Foods Liquid Chia Oil, Omega Oil, Liquid Coconut Oil, and Avocado Oil are excellent additions to your baked goods, salads, stir fry, and even smoothies! Each oil offers its own unique nutritional benefits, contain healthy fats, and are great all-natural substitutes for other oils you may be using that are highly processed.
Quinoa is a great plant based protein replacement for rice and pasta. With 9 GRAMS of protein per serving, quinoa is the perfect way to nourish your body with 9 essential amino acids. I LOVE eating quinoa mixed with some Laughing Cow Cheese to create an "imitation macaroni"!
A few other BetterBody Foods products I am a huge fan of: Organic Bourbon Madagascar Vanilla and Organic Agave. My love for sweets pushes these two products into my top favorites! Try mixing these into your oatmeal, smoothies, and baked goods INSTEAD of granulated sugar for a little extra kick of flavor - the healthy, all-natural way.
