11 Reasons To Love December
DECEMBER 2016 "This is the month to: Be merry, string up tinsel at your desk, surround yourself with everyone you love."
It's finally December! 'Tis the season for holiday cheer, baking, shopping, giving, and family traditions. December is my absolute favorite month. There are so many reasons to celebrate this time of the year (including the end of finals), but there is one reason for joy that truly outweighs all others:
"For unto you is born this day in
the city of David a Savior,
which is Christ the Lord."
As we enter December, it's important to remember the TRUE reason for the season while we celebrate: the birth of our Savior.
December brings the beginning of many seasonal festivities and traditions! Make this a December to remember and finish out 2016 with a bang. Here are 11 reasons why December is my favorite month of the year:
1. Baking desserts daily is completely acceptable
One of my absolute favorite things to do during the holidays is bake delicious treats for holiday parties! This season, try using healthier versions of your favorite decadent desserts to avoid the dreaded holiday weight gain. 2. Sales on sales on sales
I would imagine heaven looks something like Dillard's during the holidays. I was just there yesterday, and there are SALES everywhere! Bath & Body Works and VS Pink are some of my other favorite stores that usually run incredible Christmas-time sales. Arbonne International also runs some AMAZING gift packages and special deals during the holidays.

3. It's the season of shopping and gift giving
One of the most fun parts about Christmas is seeing the joy on others' faces when they open up your gift to them. Try giving a DIY gift this year! There are so many fun DIY presents that are easy to make, inexpensive, and more meaningful than your typical store-bought gift.
4. Christmas lights and decorations go up everywhere
Being a Kansas City native, Christmas is without a doubt my favorite time of the year in the city. Making several visits to see the iconic plaza lights is always on my holiday bucket list.
5. Winter & holiday fashions
Peacoats, over-the-knee boots, velvet fabrics, faux fur, jumpsuits, the color red, and oversized sweaters make Winter one of my favorite seasons for fashion! My top places to shop for the latest trends during the holidays: Express, Nordstrom, Cha Boutique in Columbia, Missouri, and Dillard's.
6. Ice skating Ice skating at the Crown Center Ice Terrace is another big winter break bucket list item for me. I especially love taking in the beauty of all of the Christmas decorations surrounding the ice rink!
7. Every day feels like a Friday
That "Friday Feeling" just seems to be an every day thing during the holidays. They don't call it the season of joy for no reason!
8. Christmas is now less than 25 days away
Let the countdown begin! Christmas Day will be here before we know it. One of my favorite traditions is our family brunch we always have on Christmas morning. Who doesn't love breakfast food?
9. Ugly Christmas sweaters are normal
Not only is it sweater weather, but the month of December is also an excuse to wear your favorite ugly sweaters and not be questioned.
10. Christmas music, movies, and TV series specials
During December, Christmas music, movies, and TV series holiday specials really start to pick up. I'm all for having a Christmas movie marathon on a chilly winter day!
11. It's a time to reflect on the year of 2016
The month of December gives us the time to reflect on the past 12 months and set goals for the new year that lies ahead. Making a New Year's Resolution for 2017 is a great way to get started on the goals that you have been putting off starting. Maybe you want to start eating healthier, exercising on a more regular basis, or living a healthier lifestyle altogether. The first day of 2017 is the perfect time to start working on bettering yourself so you can accomplish big things in the year ahead! Start thinking about your goals and resolutions this December.
