Puppy chow is one of my FAVORITE holiday treats! But, it is one of those snacks that can be easy to mindlessly munch on, and before you know it you've eaten more than you intended to. This Protein Packed Brownie Blast Puppy Chow only has 2.2 grams of sugar per 1/2 cup, packs 9.1 grams of protein, and has 5.1 grams of fiber for an increased feeling of fullness and satisfaction. Not to mention, it still maintains that rich, chocolate peanut butter flavor we all crave during this time of the year. So go ahead and indulge a little bit with your favorite holiday snack - without straying from your health and fitness goals! Check out the recipe below.
- 1 4-ounce bar unsweetened baking chocolate
- 1/2 cup creamy whipped peanut butter (I use Jif)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 1/2 cups whole grain gluten-free rice chex cereal
- 1/4 cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup Betterbody Foods Chocolate PBFit
- 1 scoop Quest Nutrition Chocolate Milkshake Protein Powder
- 1/2 cup zero calorie sweetener (I use stevia)
- 1 freezer gallon sized Ziplock bag
Melt unsweetened baking chocolate and creamy whipped peanut butter on a stovetop over medium heat in a large sauce pan until fully melted and combined. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Remove from heat and stir in 4 1/2 cups whole grain gluten free rice chex cereal until the cereal is fully coated with the chocolate and peanut butter mixture.
In a freezer gallon sized Ziplock bag, combine 1/4 cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/4 cup Betterbody Foods Chocolate PBFit, 1 scoop Quest Nutrition Chocolate Milkshake Protein Powder, and 1/2 cup zero calorie sweetener. Pour the chocolate coated cereal into the Ziplock bag with the dry ingredients and close tightly. Shake the bag until the cereal is fully covered with the dry ingredients. Pour into a large serving bowl and ENJOY!
