Enlightened Ice Cream's SEVEN New Flavors

March 5, 2017

THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Enlightened Ice Cream just came out with SEVEN (yes, SEVEN) new ice cream pint flavors and I am literally obsessed with them all. I'm not even exaggerating when I say I got the package of the new flavors last weekend and they are ALL already gone... Guilty.

Most of you know my love for ice cream runs deep. If I could ONLY eat one food for the rest of my life, it would without a doubt be ice cream. My sweet tooth is definitely one of the biggest struggles I face when it comes to eating a clean diet, but after awhile of cutting myself off from my favorite Ben & Jerry's, I don't really crave that much sugar and fat in one sitting anymore (it actually makes me feel sick).

BUT - I still love a sweet treat on cheat days. Especially after dinner, I always like to end my meals with something dessert-like.

If you read my first review of several of Enlightened's other ice cream pint flavors, you are already aware of my love for their ice cream that is LESS THAN 100 calories per serving and LESS THAN 400 calories per pint. Each flavor is low in sugar and fat, high in fiber and protein, and still maintains a sweet, rich flavor and creamy texture that a full fledged pint of diet sabotage would have.

Well, it was a happy day in the world of all ice cream loving fitness fanatics when Enlightened released SEVEN new flavors. Among the new pints were some of my absolute favorites: Birthday Cake, Fudge Brownie, and Red Velvet. I was definitely the most excited to try these three, but the other four stole my heart too.

See one that catches your eye? It was so hard for me to pick a favorite because they were ALL SO GOOD. I will say that I am always slightly biased towards Birthday Cake flavored things... It's always my go-to flavor. I am also not usually a fan of banana flavoring, but the Bananas Foster pint was absolutely delicious. The main two things (aside from the Nutrition Facts) that really impress me about Enlightened's Ice Cream pints are:

1. They actually TASTE like the names on the containers
2. They don't have an icy consistency. They actually have the creamy, cool, texture I am looking for in a pint of ice cream - with nearly half the calories.

Let's talk details on some of my favorite flavors.

1. Birthday Cake

THIS. WAS. AMAZING. It literally tasted like a pint of vanilla cupcake icing. Oh yeah, there's also sprinkles to make it even more irresistible. Plus, the nutrition facts for this pint are almost unbelievable for how delicious it is. Only 70 calories per serving, and 5 grams of sugar. Birthday Cake is without a doubt my favorite pint!

2. Red Velvet

Red Velvet was definitely a close second to Birthday Cake for my favorite flavor. Not only does it have a creamy and rich red velvet base, but there are also swirls of cream cheese frosting mixed in. I am getting hungry just writing about it! This one is also 280 calories for the ENTIRE pint... Yes, please.

3. Fudge Brownie

Chunks of chewy fudge brownie. I repeat. Chunks. of. Chewy. FUDGE BROWNIE. Chocolate lovers, this one's for you. I definitely characterize myself as a chocolate lover, so Fudge Brownie lands itself the number three spot on my list. AND it's only 400 calories for the whole pint - I'd say this is definitely a win-win situation no matter what. Fudge Brownie was rich, decadent, and without a doubt hard to put down.

4. Strawberry Cheesecake

Sweet strawberry ribbons swirled through rich and creamy cheesecake ice cream - all for 280 calories?! Pure bliss. This pint only has 1.5 grams of fat and 5 grams of sugar per serving, so you can have your [cheese]cake and stay fit too!
