YOU GUYS... Apparently I should just add professional ice cream taster to my resume. Because lately all I have been doing is snacking on healthier versions of my favorite sweet treat.
So, being the ice cream enthusiast that I am, I practically jumped for joy when Arctic Zero sent over their newest flavors - INCLUDING a box of Red Velvet Cake Batter Bars! Literally, send me a package of high protein, high fiber, low sugar ice cream and I will be the happiest girl in the world.
If you read my post about Enlightened Ice Cream last week, you already know I am a fan of their lighter pints as well. But, Arctic Zero is LACTOSE FREE. Sometimes it's nice to have the option to opt out of dairy. Usually I tolerate dairy products pretty well, but sometimes you just don't want to run the risk of feeling bloated.
Arctic Zero's Cookie Shake flavor is practically the reason I survived the months prepping for Miss Missouri last spring. If you can't tell, I LOVE ICE CREAM. And sadly, ice cream and pageant training do not mix. I would always end my meals with a bowl of Arctic Zero, because it satisfied my sweet tooth without the added fat, calories, and sugar that a normal bowl of ice cream would have - and at that point, I had cut out lactose.
The new flavors are the BOMB. They are part of Arctic Zero's "chunky" pints collection, so each new flavor has chunks of deliciousness mixed in. Rocky Road Trip, Peanut Butter Swirl, and Cherry Chocolate Chunk: Yes. SO much yes.
My absolute favorite was the Peanut Butter Swirl. I may be slightly biased because I LOVE peanut butter, but it was definitely number one. It has swirls of peanut butter and little chunks of peanuts mixed in to a nutty-vanilla flavored ice cream, and it's actually heaven in a pint.
Rocky Road Trip takes the number two spot, because who doesn't love chocolate? I mean really, you could probably give my anything chocolate flavored and I would like it. But this pint has marshmallows and peanuts mixed in, so it's even better.
Cherry Chocolate Chunk was a close tie with Rocky Road Trip. I loved that it has REAL chunks of chocolate and cherries mixed into the cherry flavored ice cream. I am more of a decadent kind of girl though, so fruity flavors always take the back seat for me. If you're super into sorbet type desserts, this is the pint for you.
OKAY so let's talk about these Cake Batter Red Velvet Bars. If you have had Arctic Zero's Cake Batter flavored pint, then you will LOVE these. It's basically the Cake Batter pint in bar form, with a hard, sweet red velvet coating on top. All for 80 calories and 5 grams of sugar. Plus, the red velvet coating is made with coconut oil; a much healthier alternative to the typical hydrogenated vegetable oils we see hiding in SO MANY foods we eat.
What I really love about Arctic Zero is the ingredients. It is SO hard to find dessert foods that are high in protein, high in fiber, and low in sugar, fat, and processed junk. The main ingredients in Arctic Zero's pints are purified water and whey protein concentrate, and the majority of their flavors are sweetened with monk fruit.
