Greek Yogurt Protein Pops

Happy ALMOST Fourth of July! The Fourth is always one of my favorite holidays to make festive and fun red, white, and blue foods. Especially because during the summer my favorite red and blue fruits are so in season: strawberries and blueberries.

 

 

So, I wanted to share this quick, easy recipe for these Greek Yogurt Protein Pops to celebrate the Fourth of July! I have been so obsessed with greek yogurt lately. It is PACKED with protein and contains probiotic cultures to help improve gut health. Some of the main differences between greek yogurt and normal yogurt are that greek yogurt is creamier and thicker, is lower in lactose, and contains nearly twice the amount of protein compared to normal yogurt. 

 

There are SO many different brands of greek yogurt out on the market and sometimes it can get confusing while you are shopping at the grocery store. My favorite is the Dannon Light & Fit Vanilla Greek Yogurt. Hands down! It is thick, creamy, and sweet (it honestly kind of tastes like ice cream), has 80 calories, 12 grams of protein, and only 7 grams of sugar. A lot of times yogurts can be sneaky and have tons of added extra sugars, so I love that this kind is on the lower side but still tastes sweet and delicious.

 

For these Greek Yogurt Protein Pops, I only used 5 ingredients (and two of them were fruit). They are SUPER easy to make. Like, really all you have to do is mix the ingredients together and freeze!

Like I have said before, I eat every 3-4 hours and I always make sure every meal has protein in it. These pops are the perfect afternoon snack because they have 8.4 grams of protein EACH. I used my UNICO Nutrition Vanilla Milkshake protein powder in this recipe, because the vanilla flavor really added a lot of sweetness to the pops.

During the summer, I love to make healthy treats like these Greek Yogurt Protein Pops that taste like ice cream, but are healthy and won't prevent me from reaching my fitness goals. These have such a creamy, cold texture that they kind of remind me of an ice cream bar with fruit mixed in. So yummy!

 

I used strawberries and blueberries in this recipe to create red, white, and blue layers to celebrate the Fourth, but you could really mix in any fruit you like. Check out the recipe below!
