8 Tips to Stay Motivated During Cooler Months

As we head in to cooler months, it can be easy to put your fitness goals on the back burner (hello sweater weather). But just because it’s getting colder outside doesn’t mean you can’t still break a sweat every day! As a trainer, the number one thing I hear people say the reason they don’t stick to a regular workout routine is because they lack motivation. Here are 8 tips to help you stay in swimsuit shape all year round!

1. Find your “why” and train with purpose.

This is the most important aspect of finding motivation to do anything in life! Whether you are working on staring a new exercise program, eating a healthier diet, or making a complete lifestyle change for the better, finding the true reason WHY you want to accomplish a goal will give you insight into what exactly you are truly motivated by.

2. Invest in at-home gym equipment.

Some of the most effective and challenging workouts only require your bodyweight and a set of dumbbells! There are so many ways you can get a good sweat session in the comfort of your own living room. Resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, jump ropes, etc. are small and simple pieces of equipment you can keep stored away and pull out on a cold morning you don’t feel like getting out and going to the gym.

3. Post on social media.

Find your community online and use social media to hold yourself accountable. Snap and share a photo of your oh-so-aesthetically pleasing bowl of oatmeal or a post workout selfie and share with your friends what you did for your routine today. This is a great way to find support and encouragement to continue pursuing your own health and fitness goals and you may even inspire others with your posts.
