Celebrate National Peanut Butter Day with this Creamy Peanut Butter Chocolate Layer Protein Shake
This is NOT A DRILL.
It's National Peanut Butter Day people. That's right, there is a whole day dedicated to PEANUT BUTTER!
Now that's worth celebrating.
I definitely consider myself a peanut butter addict. I eat one tablespoon of peanut butter with my breakfast every day. The healthy fats and protein in peanut butter help keep you full and satisfied for a longer period of time. BUT: it can be kind of easy to overdo it on this decadent treat. Before you know it, 1-2 tablespoons turns in to 4-5 tablespoons, which also means 180 calories quickly doubles to nearly 400 calories.
For some, that is the size of a full meal.
For someone who LOVES peanut butter as much as I do, it's important to be mindful of what 1-2 tablespoons of peanut butter looks like when it is correctly measured out. Once you know just how much one serving is, it is easier to stay on track and not overdo it on your fave spread.
But there's also another way to get some extra peanut butter in your life with 1/3 of the calories and 90% less fat: Betterbody Foods PBFit. In fact, this creamy peanut butter chocolate layer protein shake doesn't actually have any REAL peanut butter in it. But the taste is JUST as incredible!
I am OBSESSED with this stuff. It's definitely a staple in my every day diet. I throw it in my oatmeal, smoothies, eat it mixed with some unsweetened almond milk and stevia, use it in my protein bite recipes - I could ramble on and on. If you haven't tried PBFit: run to the store or pbfit.com and get some NOW! You will totally thank me!
When I am looking for a nut butter or nut butter powder like PBFit, the first spot my eyes go to on the nutrition facts label is the sugar content. As a general guideline, I usually try to stray away from foods that contain more than six grams of sugar per serving. For two tablespoons, PBFit has three grams of sugar, three grams of fiber, and only three grams of net carbs (total carbohydrate content minus grams of fiber).
But two things I definitely want to point out about PBFit:
1. The fat content
2. The calories
These two things are the MAIN differences in nutrition facts between PBFit and regular creamy peanut butter. Regular creamy peanut butter usually has around 16 grams of fat and 180 to 190 calories per two tablespoons. In comparison, PBFit is 1/3 of the calories and has 90% less fat. I LOVE my regular peanut butter, don't get me wrong - but PBFit is a staple in my diet and allows me to still get that peanut butter flavor and texture without the high calorie count and fat content.
This creamy peanut butter chocolate layer protein shake is 220 calories, has TEN GRAMS of fiber, and only four grams of sugar. It packs a major punch of protein, has a super creamy consistency and texture, and will remind you of a peanut butter milkshake! It is dairy-free, super easy to make, and will keep you full and satisfied - feeling like you just ate dessert! Check out the recipe below.
